ABOUT TRENEÉ

Treneé is a powerful voice of her generation and her community. She is the youngest black woman to be elected to the CT House of Representatives. Elected in 2021, she currently serves on the Education Committee, Environment Committee, and Veterans and Military Affairs Committee.

 

Treneé is no stranger to making history. In November 2019, Treneé won a seat as Councilwoman of the 7th District of West Haven City Council, becoming the youngest person to hold this position. She was also the chair of the West Haven Community Alliance and co-authored West Haven's Resolution declaring racism a public health crisis.

 

Treneé’s drive for higher education and theatre led her to earn a BFA in Acting from Marymount Manhattan College and a certificate in Photography & Food Studies from The Umbra Institute in Perugia, Italy.

Upon graduation, Treneé, became a teaching artist at Long Wharf Theatre, a theatre she once frequented as a high school student. She served as a teaching artist of the National August Wilson Monologue Competition program, Connecticut’s region, and is now on the Board of Directors. In 2020, she officially established her own production company, TDM Production Company Inc. for new artists, in pursuit of their passion for the arts and to write, create, produce and direct faith-based productions.

In 2016, Treneé founded and established Be The F.I.R.S.T. (Fundamentally Inspire by Redefining Your Scholastic Tenacity), a program devoted to promoting Higher Education for First-Generation College Students. Through this program, Treneé hosts college summits and seminars on the college application process, financial aid, grants and scholarships, life on campus, and life after college, and much more. Treneé is dedicated to implementing positive change and building foundations for students to holistically flourish.

Trenee received the Total Women: Women of Distinction Award, The I.D.E.A.L Award: Promoting Cultural Diversity and Awareness 2015, Silver M Leadership Award 2016, Black People Rock Award 2018, and the KMM Community Service Award 2020, UPN 40Under40 Class of 2020.

 

The daughter of Pastors Paris & Denya McGee Sr., Treneé is a lifelong West Haven resident. She has a passion for her community and uses her voice every day to advocate for her fellow residents and serve the 116th district.
